Wood Carving

Mark has been carving since the age of five, producing increasingly intricate wooden artefacts. He grew up in a rural community on Exmoor where traditional crafts from metalworking to thatching and pottery are being kept alive by the next generation. He is enthusiastic about keeping wood working alive and vibrant in the 21st century by combining traditional techniques with modern innovations and design concepts.

In many production workshops these techniques have been forgotten but Woodenyou keep the traditional craft going, using only hand tools to embellish the wood and bring out the soul residing in each individual piece of timber, be it oak, mahoghany, chestnut, lime or fruitwood, each has its own character and properties. Woodenyou can produce anything desired, from Tudor carved bench ends to modern portraiture and sculptural nudes.
